But rather than just learn the reasons to use Twitter, I&#8217;d like to share with you some other thoughts as well. Let&#8217;s take a look at three of them: • Just like good blog posts, good Twitter posts will work for you. Good posting skills can draw buyers and clients to you like a magnet. This is especially true if you can post on a controversial or popular topic. • One of the best things that you&#8217;ll learn will be how these posts can get people to communicate with you. The unique thing about Twitter that we&#8217;ll be discussing is the ability to send out your &#8216;tweets&#8217; on either an individual or mass basis. • Twitter is unique for its jargon, and so we&#8217;ll need to look at some of the shortcuts that Twitter provides to make this tool more user friendly. For example, we&#8217;ll learn how to follow and be followed. We&#8217;ll learn how to reply to other&#8217;s tweets and &#8216;retweet&#8217; (or copy) a particularly good post that you would like to pass along. Of course due to the short message length of only 140 characters and spaces, you&#8217;ll need to learn of various short URL programs wherein you can link people to more full versions of your message or web/blog sites.</p>

Morozov argues that the social media news angle was simply &#8220;low-hanging fruit&#8221; for mainstream media outlets. &#8212;&#8211; Open Society Foundations Fellow Evgeny Morozov on his book The Net Delusion. This program was recorded on February 7, 2011. Evgeny Morozov is the author of The Net Delusion: The Dark Side of Internet Freedom. He is a contributing editor to Foreign Policy and runs the magazine&#8217;s &#8220;Net Effect&#8221; blog about the Internet&#8217;s impact on global politics. Evgeny Morozov is currently a visiting scholar at Stanford University and a Schwartz fellow at the New America Foundation. He was formerly a Yahoo! fellow at the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy at Georgetown University and a fellow at George Soros&#8217;s Open Society Institute, where he remains on the board of the Information Program. Previously, he was Director of New Media at the Prague-based NGO Transitions Online (TOL) and a columnist for the Russian newspaper Akzia. He is also on the sub-board of the Information Program of the Open Society Institute.
